ScoutAbout Back Yard Bible Club

This 5-session, portable study can be used as a neighborhood or community Vacation Bible School, a summer activity for your children and their friends, a service opportunity to bring the gospel of Christ to children’s shelters, boys and girls clubs, etc., or as a church-sponsored program. IT’S EASY TO DO! Simply review the materials provided and decide when, where and how you want to lead this in your neighborhood or community. There are many options! 1 day a week for 5 weeks, 5 days for 1 week, every other week. You pick!

ScoutAbout is a fast-paced, lighthearted, humorous adventure that teaches all of us to do everything we do “Out Of Service” to the Lord. Through their new friend Skyler and the misadventures in the laboratory of his outrageous grandfather, Professor von Himmel, and his faithful assistant, Helga, children will hear from the Bible about the kindness Jesus showed to others. Based on Jesus’ own service of feeding the 5,000, healing Jairus’ daughter, Jesus and the little children, Jesus at the healing pool, and Jesus’ death on the cross, they will learn that Jesus is the way the truth and the life and the best way that we can serve others is to point them to Him. During each session, children will SCOUT about their neighborhoods and communities to complete their mission of the day to Serve with what you’ve got; Care quietly; Open your heart; U go!; and Trust Jesus.

You will find everything that you need in the Leader Guide inclucing daily service projects, interactive Bible lessons, craft projects, snack suggestions, and games. There also is a Supply Bin located at the end of each lesson, which has all of the support materials you need. Children will complete a ScoutAbout scrapbook to keep as a reminder to continue in the spirit of serving others as a life pattern.

Share the Gospel of Christ to children in your neighborhoods and communities through Scoutabout!

Supplemental Resources

The Bible Project is a non-profit animation studio that produces short-form, fully animated videos to make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere. Videos and study resources are provided for a variety of topics and for every book of the Bible. Their mission is to show how the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus.

Take Home Papers (Ponder, Pray & Play-Daily Way-W3)

Take home papers are provided for each age group to encourage children to open their Bibles at home and review the Bible story and to help parents take the lead in guiding their child’s spiritual growth. The zip files below contain jpgs of the take home papers and a sample for each age group.

Ages 2-5 take home the Ponder, Play & Pray which has the Bible story scripture and a related question, a prayer for daily use, and an lesson-based activity for the child to enjoy with family members.

Ages 6-9 take home the Daily Way which has a simple devotional for children to do at home. The Daily Way Challenge invites children to bring back their completed Daily Ways each week. The children work together to fill the group’s basket with completed Daily Ways, and once the basket is full everyone celebrates together with a party or a special snack.

Ages 10-12 take home the W3 which has more in-depth, challenging questions about the Bible story and its meaning in their life. These questions are more personal, like entries in a journal, so they are not returned. Instead, the children can keep and collect them at home.
